Happy 15th Anniversary to How does your clinical area print Rx labels? Does your company still use that old, slow, loud, large, pain-in-the-rear-to-keep-aligned dot matrix printer? Are you pleased with the print quality? Dot matrix printers were never designed to print labels. They were designed to print continuous sheets of paper, not small labels. Perhaps it’s time to consider a change everyone will appreciate: thermal label printers. Why should you consider thermal printers? Unlike dot matrix and laser printers, thermal printers were designed specifically for label printing. Every aspect of the printer’s design revolves around printing labels effectively and efficiently. Loading labels is quick and easy. Printing labels is much faster, quieter and they look fantastic. Load the labels and press FEED one time. The printer self-aligns and begins producing consistent and professional-looking labels.
With a fast onboard processor, thermal printers quickly print the first label and each subsequent label with minimal waiting. (Even the slowest thermal printer prints at one label per second!) With thermal printers, speed does not come at the expense of print quality. Initially created for printing barcodes and product identification labels, the resolution is far superior to dot matrix printers. Your labels will look more professional and your patients will appreciate the legibility. Concerned about reliability? Thermal printers have been around for nearly 20 years and chances are you already use them somewhere in your life. Airports, gas pumps, teller machines and shipping companies such as UPS use thermal printers every day.
One of our CPR+ customers actually kept their dot matrix printer in a hall closet to muffle the sound. Closets are for hangers! Thermal printers are whisper quiet; and thanks to a small footprint, they are “tabletop friendly” in any environment. Though available from many sources, D.H.S. strongly recommends Southern Imaging for your thermal printer and label supplies. For over eight years, D.H.S. and Southern Imaging have developed a strong relationship and without question, there is not another supplier with a better understanding of CPR+ and our customer’s needs. So, you have a payment from a secondary payor and in order to post it you have to transfer the invoice to the secondary payor, post the payment, and then transfer the balance back to the primary payor. Sound familiar? How about this one: you get payment on three of four items on a claim and you want to bill the secondary for those three items and re-bill the fourth item to the primary. No can do. These scenarios and many more will be the crux of the Line Item Financials courses. CPR+ is introducing a new billing back-end that will control transactions at the line item level. In your CPR+ system, you are currently limited to moving invoices from payor to payor. With this new programming, you will be able to:
The Line Item Financials courses will be offered twice in the course of the User Conference, so you can get to other classes as well. The first class will cover the theory behind the change, as well as Invoice and Claims creation (yes, in Line Item Financials, these terms are no longer interchangeable). The second class will cover posting and balance transfers. Don’t miss this long-anticipated programming change. See you at the conference. P.S. It’s a module so you don't have to turn it on immediately. |
User Conference Class Highlight: 2008 Pre-Conference We salute the following companies as August marks one to 15 years with D.H.S. Thank you for being great customers! 15 Years: (WOW!) 10 Years: 5 Years: 1 Year: Have you ever run into a scenario where Revenue appeared as “uncoded” when you run the Revenue by Revenue Code-Detailed Report? To fix the uncoded revenue, you can simply go to the account status screen for the invoice in question. From there you’ll need to edit the invoice, go to the line item that is uncoded and press <ALT+F10>. This will allow you to select the revenue code from the Revenue Code pop-up. To prevent uncoded revenue in the future, please make certain that all of your inventory items have a revenue code assigned. The revenue code is located on the Item Info tab of the Inventory Item under the Pricing Info area.
