Are you currently using FedEx®, UPS™, or DHL™ to ship orders out to your patients? Are you tired of re-entering in all of the patient’s shipping information into one of those systems? Well, did you know that CPR+ can interface with UPS, FedEx, and DHL? That’s right. If you currently have the Enterprise Module installed on your CPR+ system, you can integrate CPR+ with any of the three shipping companies’ software applications (FedEx Ship Manager, UPS Worldship, and DHL). CPR+ can work via an ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) between the applications to pull in the patient’s shipping information. That means no more having to enter in the information into both systems. So how does it really work? Well, it can sound a bit complicated, however it’s actually quite simple. You need to set up an ODBC connection between CPR+ and the software application.
Click here to access a document on how to create an ODBC connection. So you’ve got that done, now what? Well, now you’ve got to go into the shipping software and set that up. When you open the shipping application, you need to map the data fields so that the two applications can talk to each other. You have to set up an Import (data coming from CPR+) and an Export (data going back to CPR+). Here’s what some of the mappings look like:
If you would like to see the step-by-step document: How to set up the UPS interface, click here. If you would like to see the step-by-step document: How to set up FedEx, click here. So, you’ve got that information, now what? When you have the interface set up, once the Delivery Ticket has been printed in CPR+ and sent to the Confirmation File, you can go to the shipping application and enter in the Delivery Ticket number. That’s it! All the patient’s shipping information gets pulled into the shipping application.
“But Ryan, I’ve got a lot of Delivery Tickets I need to get into the shipping software.” Here’s a good question for you... Do you have a keyboard wedge scanner? If you do, you can scan the barcode of the Delivery Ticket, and the ticket information will get populated into the shipping application. How cool is that? Ok, so you’ve done all of that, but how can you track the package? Once you process the shipment in the shipping application, the shipping information will export back to CPR+. So what does that mean? It means that you can open / view the patient’s Delivery Ticket, and the Service Type, Package Type, Number of Packages, Weight, Cost and even the Tracking Number will be available on the Shipping Information tab in CPR+. There’s even a link to the shipping company’s website that will allow you to track the package. Wow! No more having to go out to the website, look back at your paperwork and find the tracking number, then making sure you entered in the correct tracking number. It’s all done with the click of a button!
So if you currently have the Enterprise Module, and are using UPS, FedEx or DHL, contact the CPR+ Support Department. We'll help you with the integration set up between CPR+ and your shipping software. Don’t have the Enterprise Module? Give our Sales Department a call to get more information! Who's the New Guy? Answer: Cory Bexfield, Internal Sales Representative. Cory came to work for D.H.S. in February 2008 as an intern in the Sales Department. At that time, he was finishing up his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science at The Ohio State University. Says Co-Owner Jeff Johnston, “We started him out making cold calls from our prospect database. Some of the company names were over ten years old and we needed to update our information. I told him, 'Cory, I want to know three things: Are you still in the Home Infusion / HME market? What software do you use? How well do you like it?' He did such a great job, pretty soon, he was warming up these old leads. We were sending them new information packets, scheduling CPR+ demonstrations, and even closed a couple sales. He did an excellent job and saw first hand what can happen if you put in the effort. When we posted a full-time position in the Sales Department, Cory immediately expressed an interest. We couldn't be happier." After his graduation in June 2008, Cory moved on to bigger projects, sales calls and providing support to our Sales Executives: Amy Bush and Nicholas Tieu. When asked why he works at D.H.S. Cory says, “The atmosphere here is great! Everyone at D.H.S. really cares about the needs of the customers and the thoughts of their co-workers. There’s a team environment here - where I’m able to gain industry experience while contributing to the success of the company.” Cory lives in the Columbus area with his two daughters, two cats, two dogs, and one wife.
