Did you know that you can create Care Plans for your patients in CPR+? Care Planning in CPR+ is done on a per discipline basis i.e. Pharmacy, Nursing, or Multi-Disciplinary. Each patient in CPR+ may have one of each of these types of Care Plans “Active” at any time. The Nursing Care Plan is used to document the Patient-specific plan. It gives the nurse an easy-to-use tool to monitor the Patient’s response to the therapy your company is providing.

To create a Care Plan, open your patient’s record, and from the main Patient Menu, click Care Plans (G). A window will open with a grid, listing any existing Care Plans for this patient. Here you can choose to edit an existing one, or click the Add a Care Plan (F9) button. The Nursing Care Plan is divided into six tabs. The patient’s demographic and medical information is automatically imported.

NCP

As in many of the modules in CPR+, you can create a template to reduce the time spent documenting. Not only that, but you can use multiple templates to build a custom care plan for each patient.

To provide an instant answer to the question: “When was the last time someone reviewed this patient’s plan?” we created the This Care Plan Was Last Reviewed/Edited On field. Each time a user exits the care plan, CPR+ prompts if you have reviewed and/or edited the care plan. When selecting Yes, today's date is entered into this field.

There’s also a Program Option that will automatically create a Progress Note upon updating a Care Plan. This option is found in Utilities > Program Options > Administrative tab > Options 11+ > Option 11 - Auto Create Progress Note on Care Plan Review.

Another important field is the This Care Plan Will Need to be Reviewed Again On field.  Enter the Next Review Date for this Care Plan. Entering a value in this field will place this Care Plan on the Care Plans to Review Report. This report is accessible in the Things To Do Menu from the CPR+ Main Menu, and also in the Pharmacy section of the Reports Menu.

Are you taking advantage of the Medical History section provided in CPR+? Your clinicians can formally add a Medical History to the Care Plan. The information entered in this field is automatically copied to the patient’s Progress Notes.

Problems, Goals, and Interventions

Each Care Plan and Care Plan Template contains sections for Problems, Goals and Interventions. Each of these items may be selected individually, or collectively from a template.

Here are some suggestions for creation of Nursing Care Plan Templates:

  • Create a template for each administration device: Pump, gravity, IV Push, elastomeric device.
  • Create a template for each access type: peripheral line, central line, port.
  • Create a template for each drug or drug class.

The great thing is that there’s no limitation to the number of templates that can be used to create a Care Plan.

As Problems are resolved, Goals met, and Interventions completed, these items are marked as Done (F6) in the Care Plan. This action causes these items to be moved to the bottom of the appropriate list. The print function of the Care Plan prompts the user to include these “Resolved” items.

We’re not going to make you wait a minute longer… D.H.S. has the numbers you’ve been waiting all month to see… The CPR+ User Conference Satisfaction Survey Results! As many of you noted in your comments, meeting the staff members showed you that each individual takes pride in the work he or she does for the “team.” Not surprisingly, each of us is very pleased and proud of the overwhelmingly positive feedback received. Many of you took the time to write excellent suggestions along with your honest opinion of the conference – Thanks!

  • 74% responded “Very Satisfied” or “Extremely Satisfied” with the conference overall.
  • 69% thought the length of each session was about right.
  • 87% thought the time between sessions was about right.
  • 81% responded that they were “Very Satisfied” or “Extremely Satisfied” with the conference workbooks. (Note: Ted, Phil and I want to personally thank you for that one!)
  • Of the 123 people who attended a roundtable discussion, 121 said they’d do it again next year.

The BIG question is, “where will we be meeting this time, next year?” Actually, we can’t answer that question quite yet because there’s a great amount of research that will need to be done to determine if the most popular user’s choice has a viable venue for the conference. At this point, the top four choices are: Chicago, Phoenix, Denver, and Albuquerque. Stay tuned…

Another Chance to Attend a CPR+ Mobile Webinar
When: Nov. 19 @ 1:00 EST

Does your clinical staff waste too much time driving to and from the office to pick up and drop off paper documentation? How many more patients per day could they see if they didn’t have to make that extra trip? Would patient care, inter-office communication and cash flow improve if Assessments, Visits and other clinical documentation were available in CPR+ within hours instead of days?

There IS a Better Way!

Attend the CPR+ Mobile Webinar
and let us show you how CPR+ Mobile will Improve Patient Care

Medi-Span Updates via
the Web

Are you tired of waiting for your monthly Medi-Span disk to arrive in order to get your AWP’s updated for your inventory?

In CPR+ version 8.1a, we’ve added the ability to download the Medi-Span update via the Internet rather than having to receive a CD.  This new function will not take away the current capability of installing Medi-Span via CD, but it gives you the option to do one or the other.

You will also have the ability to run the Medi-Span update as part of your End of Day process nightly in version 8.1a, so you’ll never have to worry about the “who done it’s”, or “when is my IT planning on doing it’s” with regards to your Medi-span updates.
