Most areas of CPR+ are accessed from either the Main Menu, the drop- down menus, or icons. For easy access to frequently used parts of CPR+, there are various icons placed on the toolbar, Patient Menu and Account Status Screen. There are "GoTo" buttons strategically placed for easy access to / from the Patient Menu to the Account Status Screen. On the Account Status Screen, there are "GoTo" buttons for easy access to the Insurance Company record. Some icons can be accessed from several different screens in CPR+. All that is awesome, but is there an easier way to clear a field than to backspace or delete all the data? How about entering today's date without typing the entire date WITH the slashes? What about other shortcuts? In programming terminology, a shortcut is a finite set of one or more keys that invoke a software or operating system operation when triggered by the user. There are a number of shortcuts in CPR+ simply because there is not always enough room for another icon or function button to display on the form or report.
Cool... what else... what else? Shortcut keys or icons that you can use within the Billing area of CPR+:
Other shortcut keys include:
Speaking of <F7>, did you know that pressing the <F7> key will initiate the Print Function throughout CPR+, even if there is no button displayed? There are also a number of settings in CPR+ that can be used to alter what fields display in a grid, or they can be used to set a default:
Did you know that Windows-related keyboard shortcuts also work in CPR+? Here are a few basics:
JUST KEEP STROKING! Picture a perfect world: you render a service to a customer. The biller creates a single invoice to the organization that will pay it. The payor pays the entire amount due. (I wonder what other features this world would have? Maybe we’d be able to eat whatever we want without getting fat.) In the real world, sometimes you have to send an invoice to a payor (Medicare) that you know isn’t going to pay you. Other times, you send an invoice to a payor expecting that they will pay you, but they don’t. CPR+ has a denial transaction that allows you to track those events. The denial transaction applies to an entire invoice, and only tracks that the event happened. It doesn’t take an adjustment or transfer a balance. It records that the payor denied the claim, and allows you to choose from a list of reasons why. The Denials report lists those denials, the reasons, and the dollar amounts for the claims. Linda Payne, President of Reimbursement Concepts, uses the Denials feature in CPR+ to drive her billers' activities. “The built-in Medicare denial codes are great. I look at my list and see PR96 codes and know exactly which claims are ready to flip to the secondary. But the real power of the denial codes comes from adding our own denial codes, internal or payor specific, to monitor what needs to get done. For example, we have a denial code that flags a claim for redetermination. The denials report shows us what claims are being held up for that reason, and how much money is involved." To run the Denials report, from the Main Menu, click Reports (4) > Billing Reports (4) > Miscellaneous Billing Reports (7) > Denials (9). Select the date range for denials. Your billers can work from this list to gather documentation and resubmit the claim, to send the claim to the secondary or the correct payor, or to bill the customer directly. If you aren’t posting denials and would like to learn how it works, contact Kim Carlsen to schedule some time with a trainer and put this important financial management tool to work for you. |
