CPR+ can help you to help the babies who require Synagis® injections.

Synagis® is often prescribed for high-risk babies during the RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) season, which, depending on the patient’s location, usually begins around October 1st and runs through spring. The virus can also attack other high-risk patients, such as the elderly, or patients with compromised immune systems. Did you know that CPR+ offers a Synagis Module to enable our customers to record data on the babies who receive Synagis injections? This is a free module available within CPR+.

If the Synagis module has been activated, a colorful syringe icon is displayed in the row of icons at the top of the Patient Menu and also in the lower portion of the Patient Demographics window. (See below.) If the syringe is gray, then the Synagis Module hasn’t been installed on your system yet.

RSV Connection™, sponsored by MedImmune, the makers of Synagis, is a national clearinghouse for data collected on patients receiving Synagis injections.

"The MedImmune RSV Connection™ Reporting Portal for Synagis® is a web-based reporting tool that will enable you to view the status of all referrals that go through RSV Connection™ so that you can monitor access in your territory. It provides both detail and summary reports of referral activity including referrals currently being researched for Missing Information. While patient confidentiality is maintained, you can see activity related to referrals. Information can be viewed from both a broad analytic perspective and from a physician, patient, or payor level."

MedImmune issues a unique ID for each patient. Enter this ID in the RSV Connection ID field on the MedImmune Data tab of the Patient’s Synagis Injection and Hospitalization Tracking window. This is the same ID that will allow you to run the MedImmune reports from the RSV Connection website.

Synagis distributors are required to provide MedImmune with extensive patient status and dispensing information in order to receive rebates and discounts to help offset the expense of this drug.

The reporting requirements are standard for every Synagis distributor. The RSV Connection ID is required on all Patient Status Reports and Weekly Dispensing Reports.

Here are some of the fields that CPR+ helps you track:

  •  RSV Connection ID - This field is used to hold a unique ID assigned to each patient. This ID will follow the patient in all reporting to MedImmune.
  • Received Synagis in Previous Season - Select this checkbox if this patient has previously received Synagis injections.
  • Birth Type - This is the type of birth experienced by the patient: Single, Twins, Triplets, Quintuplets or Quadruplets.
  • Other Respiratory Condition of Fetus and Newborn - Select this checkbox if this patient has experienced other respiratory conditions.
  • Status - This is the status of the Synagis patient: Active, Denials, Discharged, On Hold or Pending.
  • Reason Code - If the status changed, then a reason code needs to be selected to explain why there was a change.
  • Other Distributor (formerly Out of Network) - This field determines if the patient is receiving care outside of his or her network.
  • NICU Hospital - This is the name of the hospital where the patient was born.
  • NICU Physician - Select the NICU Physician who provided care for the patient.
  • Length of Stay - This is the number of days the patient was in the NICU.
  • Dose Admin at NICU - Select this checkbox if the patient received Synagis while in the NICU.

And of course, we have some Shortcuts and Function Keys:

  • F2 - Save the Synagis form.
  • F4 - This displays the Risk Factors associated with the Synagis patient. (Several new factors were added this year.)
  • F5 - This displays the Synagis Patient Satisfaction Report.

Although you don’t have to use the Report Library to produce these reports, we do recommend the purchase of the CPR+ Report Library Module when the Synagis Module is used. The CPR+ Report Library contains all the reports that are required to be submitted to MedImmune on a weekly basis.

You can track the information manually, or in a spreadsheet, or even with Post-It Notes plastered on a very large wall. But by working closely with our Synagis-dispensing customers, CPR+ has been able to create reports that produce this information with just a few mouse clicks. (For more information, be sure to register for tomorrow's webinar on the CPR+ Report Library Service - see the Announcements section.)

Four of the reports required* by MedImmune are included in the CPR+ Report Library Service Module. These are:

  • Product Inventory (Distributor Agreement Exhibit C)
  • Monthly Sales Data (Distributor Agreement Exhibit D)
  • Weekly Referred Prescription/Physician Order Detail (Distributor Agreement Exhibit E)
  • Weekly Dispensing Report (Distributor Agreement Exhibit E)

*Some drug representatives may ask for additional information to supplement the required data. The reports in the CPR+ Report Library Service meet MedImmune’s reporting requirements and can’t be modified to deviate from those requirements.

If your organization would like to take advantage of the free Synagis Module, please contact Customer Support and simply ask to have the Synagis module turned on in your system.
