In the 8.3 version of CPR+, the full Line Item Financial Experience (LIFE) may be yours. No more waiting for the primary’s payment to post before creating co-pay claims—and no more need to transfer the entire balance of a claim to the secondary so that cash can be posted. WHY? Because everything can be processed by individual line item: payments, adjustments, credit/rebills, denials, and transfers. Move 50% of a line item to a secondary payor and have two claims at the same time for the same line item. Add modifiers/narratives or COB information at the line item level. All this and more when you get LIFE. But, before you do, make sure that both your system and your staff are ready for it… Your System After updating to v8.3, a separate LIFE conversion process must be run to convert all the invoices to the line item format. Data structures and business logic change with LIFE, so you’ll want to clean up your data as much as possible before beginning the conversion:
Here's an example of the posting window in a system converted to Line Item Financials:
Your Staff There are many changes to the posting process in LIFE and even to the layout of the Account Status Screen where billers spend much of their time. To ensure a smooth transition, CPR+ requires your staff to complete LIFE training before converting your data to Line items. Webinars and On-Demands about LIFE and other 8.3 Enhancements will be posted on our website during the next few months. Other training options will also be available. To schedule an on-site training session, contact Kim Carlsen at 866-277-4876.
An important component of measuring productivity is measuring workload. In a clinical setting, your clinicians can’t effectively care for more patients than they are able to see, talk with or monitor. If your respiratory therapists are expected to manage 40 patients, but they can only contact 15 patients each week, then they will not be able to contact each patient at least every two weeks – the numbers just don’t add up. Do you assign clinicians geographically? If your service area is divided into four quadrants, and each service area has one clinician, then the workload is properly balanced among clinicians only if the number of patients per service area is pretty close. If not, then you’ll have some clinicians with not enough to do and others who are scrambling to care for the patients properly. Use the CPR+ Caseload Reports to monitor your clinician’s workloads and to shift the load around as needed, whether to correct imbalanced assignments or just to cover vacations. From the Main Menu, select Reports Menu (4) > Clinical Reports (1) > Caseload Reports (6). From the Caseload Reports Menu, select either Clinician Caseload (1) or Service Area Caseload (2), depending on how you want to see the workload balance. Each selection will produce two reports – a detail report with a patient listing by clinician or service area, and a summary report with total active patients for each clinician or service area. Click here to view a sample detail report or click here to view a sample summary report. Only active patients are included in the reports.
