Keeping your version of CPR+ up-to-date provides your business with some very important benefits. We are constantly working to improve the functionality of our software based on customer feedback and keeping up with ever-changing state and federal guidelines. Just look at our Enhancement Log that is provided with every release of CPR+ to get a preview of the changes that may or may not affect your organization. This is where that “PDL” number we give you can be cross-referenced to see if that new feature you requested will be available in your next update.

Update E-Mail Notifications

How do you know when we release a new software update? We have an e-mail notification system that will send you an e-mail when a new version of CPR+ is made available.

You will find the link “Get Software Update Notifications” in the bottom-right corner of the CPR+ website. From here, you can register your e-mail address to receive an e-mail notification with our CPR+ release information.

Update Preparation

Performing a CPR+ update is only part of the process. The first and most important part is to be prepared. It is true that our updates are rather easy to run, however to avoid timely problems, there are a few steps to ensure that you and your colleagues are prepared.

  1. Review the enhancement log and identify feature changes in order to be prepared for changes to the application. This can be found by visiting our website at http://www.cprplus.com and choosing “Downloads” at the top of the page. Select the version you will be updating to from the drop-down list. A link to the enhancement log will be available at the top of the web page.

  2. Contact your IT Department (or contracted IT Service Provider), if your company has this resource, to coordinate your updates with them. Many contracted IT companies would like to be aware that an update will be done so that they can be prepared in the event that they will need be get involved on short notice to help alleviate any potential issues. Many internal IT departments have procedures they must follow prior to any software updates.
  3. Make sure you have enough time to complete the update. Please be aware that there are many factors that make it difficult to estimate the amount of time your update will take to complete. Running the update from the SQL server can dramatically reduce the amount of time necessary to update CPR+.

The Update Process

Now that you are prepared to update CPR+, you can perform the actual update. There are two different ways to obtain a new version of CPR+. The first and easiest method is to use the update button on the toolbar within CPR+. This will display a menu that will allow you to download the latest version directly from our website.

When the icon is selected, the following menu will open:

NOTE: When updating through this method, the only version available is the latest version within the same version number family. For example: through this method when updating from version 8.1b, the next available version will be 8.1g. In order to get the 8.2+ versions, you must visit our website to manually download these updates.

The second method of updating is also easy but involves a few more steps. From our website, or simply by clicking the link in the Current Versions section of a recent Weekly Infusion, the update can be manually downloaded.

From the Main page of the CPR+ website, click the word DOWNLOADS near the top of the page. This link will open the CPR+ Software Updates page where you can use the drop-down list to select your update. Once you make your selection, you will be re-directed to that version's page where you will need to complete a few fields, including your CPR+ License Number. Also on this page, there is a link to a PDF document of install instructions for updates.

Once you click the Start Download link, the "cprupd" file will be downloaded to your CPR+ directory. There are three VERY IMPORTANT steps that we recommend before running any updates:

  1. Make a backup of your CPR+ data files / directory
  2. Sync your Palm and Scan devices
  3. Make sure all users are out of CPR+.

Once these actions are completed, navigate to the file using your My Computer icon or Windows Explorer and double click to run the update.

For more detailed instructions on the update process, please review the Install Instructions document I mentioned above. (A link to it is available on the Downloads page of the CPR+ website.)

Reporting from the A/R Manager

The A/R Manager is a great place to work your open invoices. You can write off small balances, make collection calls, post payments, resubmit claims, and many other billing actions – all from a single screen, with just a few clicks. In addition to all these functions, you can also print a list of the invoices you have filtered, just as you’ve filtered and sorted them.

To print a list from the A/R Manager, filter for the invoices you want to see, and sort in the order you choose. Then, just press the <F7> key, or right-click on any invoice and select “Print Invoice Listing” from the menu. This gives you a printed listing of the same invoices in the A/R Manager grid, sorted in the same order.

Here's a Tip to Use in the Prescription File:

If you need to re-activate a Discontinued Rx, (un-discontinue it) you can press the <F5> key. This will restore it instead of discontinuing it again. The <F5> key DC's anything live and restores anything DC'd. This is found in the Prescription file.
