Did you know CPR+ will lock Pharmacy Care Plans and Physician Orders with a click of the mouse? You may ask, “Why would I want to lock a clinical document?” Have you created a Pharmacy Care Plan or Physician Order and later reviewed the clinical documents and they had changed? CPR+ allows users with certain privileges to have the ability to lock certain clinical records. The lock function allows the user to lock the document once created. This will put the clinical document in “read-only” mode. CPR+ users with the lock and unlock privilege are the only users that can change the setting.

The security setting is found in Databases (7) >Employee Data/Security Setup (8), Select the Privileges tab, and the Clinical sub-tab. The first two items on the list are the “Ability to Lock Patient Records” and “Ability to Unlock Patient Records.” Place an "X" in the Access column by pressing the spacebar to tag each privilege.

There are several windows that may be locked using this feature. They are:

  • Standard Plan of Treatment
  • Home Health Certification (485)
  • Verbal Orders
  • Free Form Orders
  • Nursing Visits
  • Nursing Assessments
  • Nursing/Pharmacy/Multi-Disciplinary Care Plans

Below is an example of how to lock down your clinical documents:

  • Choose your patient
  • Choose your clinical document from the above document list

  • Create the document and click the lock icon (upper right hand corner) and the document is locked.

The only way the document can be unlocked is to click the lock icon again. A prompt window will pop up, asking “Are you sure you want to unlock this record?” Click the Yes or No button. Remember, only users with the proper security privileges can unlock the document.

If you'd like to learn more about this or other security features in CPR+, or to schedule an on-site training session, contact Kim Carlsen at 866-277-4876.
