As we discussed last week, the delivery of medical equipment, drugs and supplies is one of the core functions of every HME and Home Infusion provider. For too many providers, this critical process is completely un-automated, paper dependent and inefficient. This adversely affects inventory accuracy, delays billing, reduces efficiency and increases costs.

If only you could take CPR+ with you on deliveries…

If you read last week’s article, you know that we offer CPR+ customers two easy-to-use applications to automate many critical Delivery Management functions. CPR+ Scan and CPR+ Web Portal with Smartphone Integration both contain many features that help you streamline the delivery process, better manage inventory, improve patient care and strengthen your bottom line.

Last week, we focused on CPR+ Smartphone - a web-based application that securely displays CPR+ data to end-users who have a valid login, including over any cell phone capable of accessing the Internet (e.g., a Blackberry, iPhone or Windows Mobile device).

CPR+ Smartphone is affordable, reliable and lets your staff view Delivery Tickets on their phones, edit quantities on the electronic Delivery Ticket, receive a “new” Delivery Ticket in mid-route, and indicate in real-time when each delivery has been made. In addition, CPR+ Smartphone allows delivery personnel to view and edit patient demographic info, one-click dial multiple phone numbers, see directions to the patient’s home, view a Google map, see previously delivered drugs, supplies and equipment, and more.

CPR+ Scan is a device-based application that runs on a rugged-ized PDA. It uses “syncing” (either Hot Sync for Palm OS or Active Sync for Windows Mobile OS) to pull CPR+ data onto the device. Once up-to-date, CPR+ Scan users can perform a variety of inventory management and delivery functions much more efficiently.

Main Features of CPR+ Scan include the ability to:

  • receive inventory by scanning an item's barcode and entering the quantity received,
  • look up an inventory item by scanning its barcode,
  • change the status of one or more pieces of equipment by scanning the item's barcode(s) and assigning a new equipment status to all scanned items (e.g., PM'd, Cleaned & Checked, Ready, etc.),
  • batch assign O2 lot numbers to oxygen tanks, and
  • create Purchase Orders.

Delivery Management Features of CPR+ Scan give Delivery Personnel the ability to:

  • change the status of equipment as Delivery Trucks are being loaded for the day's deliveries,
  • view an electronic version of the actual Delivery Ticket, including all items and quantities to be delivered,
  • scan equipment on the truck and assign it to a patient Delivery Ticket,
  • edit supply quantities on the electronic Delivery Ticket,
  • capture a patient signature on the electronic Delivery Ticket,
  • automatically confirm Delivery Tickets that contain a patient signature obtained in the field (on the sync).

These are time-saving features to be sure. Hundreds of customers utilize CPR+ Scan every day to improve efficiency and better manage inventory, but let’s face it, having to SYNC the data frequently is not ideal. The process takes time and, once finished, the data on the device is immediately out of date.

Even as you read this, we are hard at work developing a next generation application that will literally allow you to “take CPR+ with you”. Either in the warehouse or on the road, you’ll stay connected to your data and provide up-to-the-minute delivery and inventory updates to anyone on your network.

We are combining the power of CPR+ Scan with the real-time simplicity of surfing the web. With the CPR+ Web Portal engine, we can display live, up-to-date CPR+ data on a rugged-ized PDA, eliminating the need to sync your data or perform batch transactions. The new product is called Delivery Plus. It combines the best inventory and delivery management features of CPR+ Scan with the web-connected power of CPR+ Smartphone. Delivery Plus will also offer new time-saving features as well, including real-time GPS tracking of delivery personnel, the ability to receive Purchase Orders on the device, and much more.

We’ll be demonstrating Delivery Plus at the 2nd Annual HME Summit in Columbus, Ohio on March 10th, 2010, so make plans now to attend. If you can’t make the Summit, watch the Weekly Infusion for info on the first Delivery Plus webinar. Customers who already own CPR+ Scan will have an easy migration path to Delivery Plus, those who do not will be able to implement this new product quickly, easily and affordably.

Providers who automate their inventory and delivery management processes will save time and money and improve patient care. For more information about CPR+ Scan, Smartphone or Delivery Plus, contact Erika Salvato today at 866-277-4876.
