Since CPR+ version 8.1, users have had the ability to electronically sign certain documents in the program. Once selected, the electronic signature feature would print the name of the person signing the document, as well as the date and time of the signature. Beginning in version 8.2, we added the ability to print the image of an actual signature on these documents. To begin, you will need to collect and scan images of the signatures of CPR+ users who will have the privilege to sign documents. You can either use a scanner to capture the signtaure images or you can purchase an electronic signature pad. Either way, the file that gets created is the image that will be seen on the document when you e-sign it in CPR+. To have the Electronic Signature feature turned on, you will need to contact your friendly CPR+ Customer Support Representative.
Once you have the file assigned to the user who has the lock privilege, that person is ready to e-sign documents in CPR+. This process works on any window that has the pen head icon (see below) in the upper right hand corner. All Care Plans, Physicians Orders, Visit Reports / Assessments, Progress Notes and Med Profiles can be electronically signed. When the setting is enabled and the user selects <F7> to print the Verbal Orders, for example, a message box will pop up, asking if you want to electronically sign the document.
Notice the new pen head icon in the upper right hand corner of the verbal order. Once you have finished filling out the Order, click on the new icon to e-sign the document. Once you have clicked the button, another window will open, asking you to enter your CPR+ password. After doing this and clicking Save & Close (F2), the Order will be locked. Only the user who signed the document will be able to unlock it. Any time that you print the form after it has been signed, the signature image will print on the paper in the lower left corner.
If you don't see the pen icon on the form, check your privileges: the icon will not appear if the user does not have the security privilege to lock patient records. For more information, or to szchedule szome training time with one of our experts, contact Kim Carlsen today.
