The needs of a Mail-Order pharmacy are different than the needs of a traditional Home Infusion pharmacy. The new SpRx Enterprise List Manager was written based on the unique needs of a Mail-Order pharmacy. The main difference between this list and the original Enterprise List Manager is the ability to bill the NCPDP claim prior to filling the prescription.

In the bullet points below, I have broken down the work flow for a new order utilizing the new SpRx Enterprise List Manager. This outline should give you enough information to decide for yourself if the new SpRx Manager will work for your organization.

  • 4. Rx Setup: The prescription NDC is selected and the label is completed in this list.
  • 5. Claims To Adjudicate – New Rx’s: The NCPDP claim is adjudicated in this list. If you are unable to obtain a payable claim, it can be sent to H. Rx’s To Discontinue or to the 7. Claims Exceptions list.
  • 6. Rx Verification: The pharmacist can verify the prescription and make any necessary corrections.
  • 9. Patients To Contact – New Rx’s: This contains all orders that have been set up and received payable claims. Once the co-pay is collected, the patient’s delivery can be scheduled.
  • C. Print Labels / Documentation: One click will print the labels, drug monographs, compounding record and the delivery ticket. If the patient has multiple orders assigned to the same delivery ticket, all prescriptions can be combined onto one ticket.
  • D. Select Lots / Fill Rx: Once the drug is pulled from the shelf and labeled, the corresponding lot number can be assigned to the patient record.
  • E. Order Verification: The final check can be completed, utilizing a wedge scanner, to verify all items in the box are for the corresponding delivery ticket.
  • F. Pending Shipments: Once the shipping software sends a tracking number to CPR+, the system will automatically remove the delivery ticket from this list.

As you can see, the various job functions within the pharmacy have been organized into individual lists in the SpRx Enterprise List Manager. This provides the ability to monitor every aspect of the dispensing process without running a report. Due to the complexity of this new process, you may want to schedule an On Site or Virtual-On-Site (VOS) training session with a member of the Training Department to obtain in-depth knowledge of this new workflow.

We believe the SpRx Enterprise List Manager is a great enhancement to CPR+. It enables true “bill before you fill” capability, robust NCPDP claims processing and segments production into logical “work queues” which seem to fit most Specialty Pharmacy providers.

More to Come

In the past month, Jeff, Stuart and I have visited Specialty Pharmacy customers from New York to California to Florida. We made the commitment to spend time to gather feedback from the front lines. We will take that information and improve the SpRx List Manager with miscellaneous enhancements and added functionality.

Over the next six to twelve months, we will be releasing an additional set of enhancements designed specifically for the Specialty Pharmacy market. It is our intention to offer a very robust, fully-automated system with all the functionality of any competing product on the market today.

Next week, I will cover the refill process and additional lists on the SpRx Enterprise List Manager.
