If your organization reports sales tax collected by State, County, and/or City, please read on. As you are aware, CPR+ can calculate tax on Generic Invoices (Claims), but how do you generate reports on this tax from cash collected? Wait for it. Also, if your organization operates in an area where tax is assessed based on the patient’s location, get ready for this. CPR+ includes a tool that can be used to assess and report sales tax based on percentages for City, County, and State.
Once the tax codes are built, these can be assigned to a patient record on the patient demographics form.
To use this tax code, you will need to check the “Taxable” box on all applicable inventory items. Once this is checked, tax will be calculated for these items on your Delivery Tickets for items that are billed directly to the patient, or any entity that is billed on a Generic Claim. The tax amount may be collected from the patient / entity and recorded in CPR+ through the Point of Sale module (using the “Load Existing Ticket” function) or through Delivery Ticket Confirmation (using the patient responsibility payment option). Tax collected is reported through a new option on the Cash Reports Menu – Cash Tax.
This report may be run for City, County, or State. The report displays the cash amount collected, the tax percentage applicable, and the amount of tax due to the tax collection agency. This feature is available in version 8.3a using the Line Item Financials package.
