Patient safety is your number one concern. That's why we created the Order Verification module and added it to CPR+ version 8.2. Since then, we've also added it to the Enterprise SpRx module. If you'd like to reduce the chance of errors when filling prescriptions and improve the accuracy of your inventory at the same time, read on.

From the File Menu, select Order Verification Module.

Log in as usual, by selecting your User Name and entering your password.

Next, the Order Verification window opens, and I can begin the process. In the example below, I scanned the barcode on the patient’s Pharmacy Work Order.

The patient’s name, prescription number and drug name appear in the window. Next, I picked the drug from the shelf in inventory, and used the barcode scanner to enter the code on the drug package. The code is matched with the code in the inventory record, and the window opens to enter the quantity. Once entered, the item appears in the grid. The second item on the prescription is Normal Saline, 1000 mL. Next step, go back to the shelf, select a bag of Normal Saline, 100 mL and scan the barcode on the package. The Order Verification Module, is expecting a 1000 mL bag – not 100 mL. The Invalid Item warning window pops-up and offers the opportunity to cancel, substitute or add the new item.

The Order Verification module can also be accessed through the Enterprise List for SpRx. Users can scan the barcode on a Delivery Ticket to begin the verification process. After reading the DT barcode, the system will request the barcode for each Work Order tied to that Delivery Ticket.

But wait, there's more! We've got a report for that: The Order Verification Exception Log report. This report listed every order that was verified using the Order Verification Module for a particular date range. The information is sorted by date and displays the Patient Name, Rx # or DT #, Item Name, Qty, a description of the Exception and the Action taken by the User. This can be run with or without comments, meaning if Users click the Comments (F3) function button during the verification, (see the third screenshot above) any text entered there can be printed on the report.

Now you’re asking, “Where can I get a barcode scanner so that my organization can increase efficiency and patient safety?” Our good friends at Southern Imaging have the products you need. Not only do they carry a wide variety of hardware, including the perfect barcode scanner to meet your needs, they provide excellent service to CPR+ customers. As a CPR+ ISP/ Certified Partner, they’ve been helping CPR+ customers just like you for over ten years.

If your system is updated to at least CPR+ v8.2, the Order Verification Module is available for use - at no additional cost. For more information or to schedule a training session on this or any CPR+ topic, contact Kim Carlsen today.

This year's FREE CPR+ User Conference is going to be bigger and better than ever! There will be dozens of classes specifically designed for HME, Infusion, and Specialty Pharmacy. Combine that with training on all of the latest enhancements, round table discussions, networking opportunities, vendor presentations and much more. How could this year's conference get any better?

At the 2009 User Conference, late registrants were forced to find other accommodations. We don't want that to happen to you. We want you to register early! To help stimulate early registration, we will conduct five drawings of $100 each. The first drawing will include all customers who registered through April. The next will be for all customers who registered through May, followed by June, July and August. The earlier you register, the more drawings your name will be in and the more chances you have to win! (Drawings will take place during the keynote presentation on Friday, September 17th. You must be present to win.)

Don’t wait 'til the last minute. Sign up for the conference today to increase your chances of winning cash!

CPR+ Smartphone
When: May 6th @ 1:00 EDT

Give your On Call Staff and Delivery Drivers the information they need while out of the office, on their very own smartphone!

CPR+ Smartphone is a component of our Web Portal module. The Web Portal module is a web-based application that securely displays CPR+ data to end-users who have a valid login. The “employee” login allows access to CPR+ data from a “Smartphone” – any cell phone capable of accessing the Internet. With the CPR+ Smartphone module, your employees can access CPR+ data from their smartphone or through the employee login of Web Portal, on their laptop or desktop web browser.

The CPR+ Smartphone module gives many different roles in your organization access to CPR+ data while they are away from the office. Pharmacists can use their smartphone while on call, giving them viewing and editing capabilities of demographic information, medical info including Ht/Wt, Diagnosis, Current Medication List, Progress Notes and more. Recently we have added even more functionality to include your Delivery Drivers. As a delivery driver you can see your delivery route, tickets to be delivered while updating quantities on the ticket, and adding serial numbers. A quick click of the delivered button sends the ticket status back to CPR+ automatically for confirmation. A driver can even receive a “new” delivery ticket from the office in mid-route, real time!

Special Pricing for May: This module is an annual subscription. Receive 10% off your first year subscription when purchasing CPR+ Smartphone during the month of May. To see a demonstration, please click here to register for this week’s webinar, this Thursday at 1PM EDT. For more information, contact Erika Seitz at 866-277-4876.
