Last week, we held the first of what we hope will be many Specialty Pharmacy (SP) User Group meetings. Our goal for the first meeting was to determine the level of interest in a user group among our Specialty customers, and to introduce the Specialty Pharmacy Enterprise (SPRx) List Manager feature released in CPR+ v8.3. We believe this List Manager is a great enhancement to CPR+. It enables true “bill before you fill” capability, robust NCPDP claims processing and segments production into logical “work queues” which seem to fit most Specialty Pharmacy providers. These queues provide the ability to monitor every aspect of the dispensing process without running a report.

Throughout the meeting, we polled attendees on various Specialty Pharmacy industry-related questions. Among the more interesting results, 80% of the attendees reported that less than 25% of the meds they dispense are oral medications. Only one customer reported dispensing 100% oral meds.

As the meetings continue, we plan to focus on introducing our SP customers to relevant functionality that is either in development or currently available. Then, we'll turn our attention to prioritizing future development projects.

The second meeting is scheduled for July 21st at 1:30 PM EDT. A detailed agenda will be announced soon. Our current plan is to include a short presentation highlighting our partnership with AssistMed, the leader in patient compliance and adherence technology.

The Enterprise SPRx List Manager can be used to process a patient from referral to refill, and enables CPR+ customers to manage the workflow requirements of a Specialty Pharmacy in a flexible and efficient manner. The important difference between this list and the original Enterprise List Manager is the ability to bill the NCPDP claim prior to filling the prescription.

For those interested in upgrading to CPR+ v8.3 and/or implementing the SPRx List Manager, don't forget about the discounted v8.3 Implementation & Training packages. Click here to learn more.

We received this message from the NGS CEDI and wanted to pass the information on to our readers:

National Government Services will bring down the CEDI Gateway at 3:00 p.m. eastern time (ET) until no later than 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 to install the July 2010 releases. During this downtime, CEDI customers will be unable to connect and exchange transactions with CEDI. This will allow CEDI to process all inbound files received through 3:00 p.m. on June 30, 2010. Once the July 1, 2010 effective updates have been installed and verified, the CEDI Gateway will be brought back up for CEDI customers to resume exchanging transactions with CEDI.

Note: CEDI will not require a Gateway outage on July 2, 2010 as previously indicated on the CEDI Important Events page.

Please contact the CEDI Help Desk regarding any questions at ngs.cedihelpdesk@wellpoint.com or at 866-311-9184.
