Issue #138 July 13, 2010 Editor: Laura J. Pugh |
Important AnnouncementWe are pleased to announce that we have developed a utility to compare your CPR+ prescriber information with information in Medicare's Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System (PECOS) database. This utility will generate a report of prescribers who:
We are providing the PECOS utility as a means for our customers using CPR+ v8.0 or higher to immediately identify corrections needed to their prescriber data without requiring an update. We will be providing further PECOS validation, reporting, and automatic updating tools within CPR+ in our upcoming v.8.3d interim release. Click Here to Download the FREE PECOS Utility Although most of you are familiar with Medicare's PECOS, we want to remind you that Medicare requires prescribers and non-physician prescribers to enroll (and maintain their Medicare enrollment) in PECOS to be eligible to receive Medicare payments for covered services. CMS has suggested that rejections may occur for claims submitted as early as July 6, 2010. However, the official CMS implementation date is January 2011. Under PECOS, CMS will validate enrollment based on NPI, the first four letters of the prescriber's last name and the first letter of the first name.
The PECOS Utility is designed to identify name discrepancies as well as identify prescribers who are not enrolled. This functionality and more will be integrated into CPR+ v8.3d. Also, we will be adding front-end editing that will be available in CPR+ v8.4. For more information or answers to any questions you may have about our new PECOS Utility, send an email or call us at 877-277-4876. Emdeon has announced the discontinuation of their confirmation and claim error reports (RPTs). You may have read the Customer Service Alerts issued on current reports, but in case you haven't, we would like to make you aware of this important news. Effective 08/04/2010 these reports will no longer be delivered to your Emdeon mailbox for download into CPR+. They include:
Let's face it, sorting through RPT reports can be time consuming and unproductive. Emdeon is compiling claim information received and generated during claim processing and presenting it in an easy to use application for tracking claims from submission to payor acceptance. Replacing these downloadable reports is a free, online reporting platform called Emdeon Vision in which you will have access to 15 months of your claim history immediately. The Emdeon Vision tool has been available for quite some time, but has not been fully utilized. If you don’t have an Emdeon Vision username and password please visit the product login page and click on the "click here to register" link. Just fill in your contact information to get started with your registration today. FYI, it may take up to a week to receive a reply from Emdeon. You will receive an email with instructions for creating a secure web mail account. User name and password will be sent to this account.
